Day 27

Jesus at the Center of it all!

Joel 2:12 says, “Yet even now, says the Lord,
return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” NRSV

As we fast we are disconnecting ourselves from the World. You might say fasting is hard to do. I like to eat. I like my routine, and part of my routine is to eat. Or watching my favorite TV show, being on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. If there were ever a concept that put fear into the hearts of many, it’s this one.

Maybe you’re like:
I don’t want to do this.
It hurts.
It breaks my routine.
It’s inconvenient.
I’ll get hungry.

But you know what? These things that we love so dearly, things that we depend on and cherish and rely upon, these good things—-might actually be barriers to the really good thing—God.

Is God the top priority in your life today? If not, what is taking His place?

NVI

Al ayunar nos estamos desconectando del mundo. Podrías decir ayunar es difícil. Me gusta comer.

Tal vez digas:

No quiero hacer esto.

Me duele.

Rompe mi rutina.

Es inconveniente.

Me va a dar hambre.
